Barndominium FAQ

What exactly is a barndominium?

A barndominium is a home built using post-frame or metal-building construction methods — the same techniques used for agricultural barns and shops — finished out as a full residence. Many combine living space with an attached shop, garage, or barn under one roof.

How much does a barndominium cost to build in Wyoming?

Cost depends heavily on size, finish level, site conditions, and how much shop space you're including. Wind and snow engineering in Wyoming also affects framing cost more than in milder climates. We provide a written estimate after an initial site and design conversation — there's no single statewide number that means much until we know your lot and layout.

Do you build anywhere in Wyoming, or just certain cities?

We build statewide, with established work in Cheyenne, Casper, Laramie, Gillette, Sheridan, Cody, Jackson, and Rock Springs, plus the surrounding county ground around each. If you're outside these areas, call us — we still may be able to help.

Can I get financing for a barndominium in Wyoming?

Many lenders now offer construction and permanent financing for barndominiums, though terms vary more than for conventional stick-built homes. We can point you toward lenders our past clients have used successfully in your area.

How long does construction take?

A straightforward shop-house or single-story barndominium typically runs a few months once permits are in hand; larger or fully custom builds, or projects with heavy design review (like Teton County), take longer. We give you a project-specific timeline once your design and permits are set.

Do you handle permits and county code requirements?

Yes. Wyoming's counties differ significantly in what they require for post-frame and metal-building homes — we manage that process county by county rather than assuming one approach fits the whole state.
